ONI Woman Print

Description

The bust of an African woman inspired the ONI woman quilt. The ONI Woman has a solid dark brown face quilted with lighter brown dotted fabric appliqued on the cheeks and the bottom lip. Her eyes are appliqued with black and brown fabric and embroidered with black and brown embroidery floss. The appliqued nose, above the eye area, and the neck have multitoned brown, tan, and black fabric. The top of the face has stitching to resemble a bridge with the embroidered shape of an eye in the third eye area.
Above this section, there are two appliques, the lower one is a gold, green, and white batik print, and the higher one is a brown tone fabric stitched up and outward with a circular disk in the center. The disk is appliqued with the same fabric as above the forehead. The circle has gold thread stitched in a circular manner.
There are two African print appliques on each side of the head. This area is outlined with brown and yellow stitching. Yellow appliques are placed on each side of her face.
