Nut’s Face Print

Description

Nut’s face was created on a quilted navy background that encircles her face and extends upward. Her hair is composed of strips of blue, black, and gray fabric that were stitched and felted for effect. Within her hair, there are also silver, black, and blue metallic threads.
Her hair surrounds her face, and the crown of stars she wears on her head. The face of Nut is a multitone, multilayered, appliquéd depiction of the Goddess Nut. Her face is pieced with the Moon’s reflection on her forehead which is a crescent-shaped fabric appliqué with clear iridescent glass beads sewn onto the quilt. Nut’s forehead also has a diamond-shaped section at the third eye with blue and white glass beads sewn in a striped pattern. Her eyes are silver swirls sewn with silver embroidery floss, to reflect the light as it shines on her face. Her cheeks are two half circles of printed fabric placed on each cheek representing the celestial longitude and latitude. She wears stars as her earrings, which are different sizes, and one has a rhinestone center.
