Description

The tree spirit AYA was inspired by the trees that live outside of my window. This quilt is dedicated to all the trees that have communicated with humans and all those that ever will.
AYA represents the plant world. The trees and plant life that support life on earth. She also represents growth, healing, fertility, and prosperity.
The spirit of trees is depicted as a woman whose body is covered with bark and leaves, and her roots are planted in deep dark, fertile soil and extend into the underground plant network. Her arms end with green glass beads representing the seeds of the tree that allow renewal and ensure the species’ survival. The hands also represent the ability to give healing energy or properties freely. They represent the plant kingdom’s ability to embrace life.
Her head is crowned with two or three Leaf patterns within the tree. She has a face and senses, eyes that see, observe, or watch, a nose, and a mouth that speaks to those willing to listen to her voice. Her branches and leaves are expansive receptors of the environment.
There are gold leaves to represent the wisdom she holds. The organza leaves represent the energy of new leaves that have not become physical. She has several gemstones sewn onto her within the tree Green Hair Quartz. Green hair quartz is sewn onto her crown and small wood beads accent her trunk where it emerges from the earth.
